|
- ●Mini
biography
- Benjamin Geza Affleck was born on August 15, 1972
in Berkeley, California, USA but raised in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. He was born to
parents Tim Affleck, a social worker who is now
divorced from Ben's mother Chris Affleck, a
school teacher. Ben also has a younger brother,
actor Casey Affleck, who was born in 1975. Ben
wanted to be an actor ever since he could
remember and his first acting experience was for
a Burger King commercial, when he was *very*
young. At 8 years old Ben was given his first
steady acting job on the PBS mini-series
"Voyage of the Mimi, The" (1984). It
was also at that age when Ben met his lifelong
friend and fellow actor, Matt Damon. They played
little league together and took drama classes
together. Ben's teen years consisted of mainly TV
movies and small television appearances including
Hands of a Stranger (1987) (TV) and "Second
Voyage of the Mimi, The" (1988). He made his
big introduction into feature films in 1993 when
he was cast in Dazed and Confused (1993). After
that he did mostly independent films like Kevin
Smith's Mallrats (1995) and Chasing Amy (1997)
which were great for Ben's career, receiving
renowned appreciation for his works at the
Sundance film festival. But the success he was
having in independent films didn't last much
longer and things got a little shaky for Ben. He
was living in an apartment with his brother Casey
and friend Matt, getting tired of being turned
down for the big roles in films and being given
the forgettable supporting ones. Since Matt was
having the same trouble they decided to write
their own script, where they could call all the
shots. So, after finishing the script for Good
Will Hunting (1997) they gave it to their agent
Patrick Whitesell who showed it to a few
Hollywood studios, finally being accepted by
Castlerock. It was great news for the two but
Castlerock wasn't willing to give Ben and Matt
the control over the project they were hoping
for. It was friend Kevin Smith who took it to the
head of Miramax who bought the script giving Ben
and Matt the control they wanted and in December
of 1997 Good Will Hunting (1997) was released,
making the two unknown actors famous. The film
was nominated for 9 Academy Awards and won two,
including Best Original Screenplay for Ben and
Matt. The film marked Ben's breakthrough role, in
which he was given for the first time the chance
to choose roles instead of having to go through
grueling auditions constantly. He chose such
roles in the blockbusters Armageddon (1998),
Shakespeare in Love (1998) and Pearl Harbor
(2001). With these hits to his credit, Hollywood
can't seem to get enough of Ben, with directors
wanting him in their movies and companies wanting
his screenplays. His inspirational story of hard
work and amazing climb to the top has brought him
what he deserves and Ben Affleck has shown no
sign of slowing down.

 Kate
Beckinsale

- ●Date
of birth (location)

London, England, UK
|
- ●Mini
biography
- KATE BECKINSALE was born 26 July 1973 in England,
and has resided in London for most of her life.
Her mother is Judy Loe, Ms. Loe has appeared in a
number of British dramas and sitcoms, and
continues to work as an actress, predominantly in
British television productions. Her father was
Richard Beckinsale, born in Nottingham, England,
UK. He starred in a number of popular British
television comedies during the 1970s, most
notably the television series Rising Damp and The
Lovers. He passed away in 1979. Kate attended the
public (private school to U.S. readers) Godolphin
and Latymer School in London for her grade and
primary school education. In her teens, she twice
won the British bookseller W. H. Smith Young
Writers' competition--once for three short
stories and once for three poems. After a
tumultuous adolescence, (a bout of
anorexia{cured} and a smoking habit which
contiues to this day) she gradually took up the
profession of acting. Her major acting debut came
in a World War II television movie called One
Against the Wind, filmed in Luxembourg during the
summer of 1991.It first aired on American
television that December. Kate began attending
Oxford University's New College in the fall of
1991, majoring in French and Russian literature.
She had already decided that she wanted to act,
but to broaden her horizons she chose university
over drama school. While in her first year at
Oxford, Kate received her big break in Kenneth
Branagh's film adaptation of Shakespeare's Much
Ado About Nothing. Kate worked in three other
films while attending Oxford, beginning with a
part in the medieval historical drama Prince of
Jutland (1993), cast as Ethel. The film was shot
during spring 1993 on location in Denmark, and
she performed her supporting part during New
College's Easter break. Later in the summer of
that year, she performed as the lead in the
contemporary mystery drama Uncovered (1994).
Before she went back to school, Her third year at
university was spent at Oxford's study-abroad
programme in Paris, France, immersing herself in
the French language, Parisian culture, and those
awful French cigarettes. A year away from the
academic community and living on her own in the
French capital caused her to re-evalate the
direction of her life. She faced a choice:
continue with school, or concentrate on her
flourishing acting career. After much thought,
she chose the acting career. In the spring of
1994 Kate left Oxford, after finishing three
years of study. Kate appeared in the BBC/Thames
Television satire Cold Comfort Farm filmed in
London and East Sussex during late summer 1994.
Cold Comfort Farm opened to spectacular reviews
in the United States, grossing over US$5 million
during its American cinema run. It was
re-released to U.K. theatres in the spring of
1997. Acting on the stage consumed the first part
of 1995; she toured in England with the Thelma
Holts Theatre Company production of Chekov's The
Seagull. After turning down several mediocre
scripts, "and going nearly berserk with
boredom, " she waited seven months before
another interesting role was offered to her. Her
big movie of 1995 was the romance/horror movie
Haunted, starring opposite Adian Quinn and Sir
John Gielgud, and filmed in West Sussex. In this
film she wanted to play `an object of desire',
unlike her past performances where her characters
were much less the siren and more the worldly
innocent. Kate's first film project of 1996 was
the British ITV production of Jane Austin's novel
Emma. Her last film of 1996 was the comedy
Shooting Fish, filmed at Shepparton Studios in
London during early fall. She played the part of
Georgie, an altruistic con artist. Currently
married to Sheen. The couple recently gave birth
to their first child.

|
- ●Biography
from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
- This blond, blue-eyed, perpetually boyish-looking
leading manwhose breakthrough role, in 1969's
Midnight Cowboy was that of a male
prostitute-helped define the
"sensitive" man for American movie
audiences of the 1970s and 1980s. Voight, the son
of a Czechoslovakian-American golf pro, embraced
the dramatic arts while still a teenager, and
worked his way from highschool stages to Broadway
while still in his 20s. His first film, a
superhero satire titled Fearless Frank was made
in 1965 but wasn't widely released until 1969,
after his big splash (and Oscar nomination) as
hick hustler Joe Buck in Cowboy Other
early films include Hour of the Gun (1967) and
Out of It (1969). Voight went on to appear in
several "antiestablishment" films,
including Mike Nichols' clumsy adaptation of
Catch-22 and The Revolutionary (both 1970). He
was also part of a superb ensemble cast in the
harrowing thriller Deliverance (1972), which is
still one of his best-remembered films.
Voight
made a few pictures of varying quality-including
The All-American Boy (1973), Conrack, The Odessa
File (both 1974), and End of the Game (1976)-over
the next few years, before finding another truly
great part: that of a quadriplegic Vietnam War
vet in Coming Home (1978), opposite Jane Fonda.
His moving performance won him a Best Actor
Academy Award, but again, it was difficult to
find other parts of commensurate quality. He
starred in a soppy remake of The Champ (1979),
and in Hal Ashby's troubled production of Lookin'
to Get Out (1982, which Voight cowrote and
coproduced) before producing the sentimental
Table for Five (1983), in which he played a
widower suddenly forced to raise his children
singlehandedly.
His over-the-top performance in the
action/allegory Runaway Train (1985, from a story
by Akira Kurosawa) was atypical, to say the
least, but earned him a third Oscar nomination.
He followed it with Desert Bloom (1986). Voight
underwent a spiritual reawakening near the end of
the 1980s, often exhorting puzzled interviewers
of the need for man's transcendence of evil,
while trying to get intellectually related film
projects off the ground. Eternity a 1990 film he
wrote and acted in, has not been widely seen, but
sheds some light on his current worldview: it
deals with a TV reporter, trying to uncover
government corruption and falling for a model
who's a tool of the very forces he's trying to
expose. He has also been seen in the TV movies
Chernobyl: The Final Warning (1991), The Last of
His Tribe (1992), Rainbow Warrior (1993), the
miniseries "Return to Lonesome Dove"
(1993), taking over Tommy Lee Jones' part as
Woodrow Call, and The Tin Soldier (1995),
which he also directed.

 Mako

- ●Date

Kobe, Japan
- ●Sometimes

- Jimmy Sakuyama

- ●Mini
biography
- Born in Japan, Mako was living there with his
grandparents while his parents studied art in the
United States, when Japan and the U.S. went to
war in 1941. His parents remained in the U.S.,
working for the Office of War Information, and at
the cessation of the conflict were granted U.S.
residency by Congress. Mako joined his parents in
New York and studied architecture. He entered the
U.S. Army in the early 1950s and acted in shows
for military personnel, discovering a talent and
love for the theatre. He abandoned his plans to
become architect and instead enrolled at the
famed Pasadena Community Playhouse in California.
Following his studies there, he appeared in many
stage productions and on television. In 1966, he
won an Academy Award nomination as Best
Supporting Actor for his first film role, as the
coolie Po-Han in The Sand Pebbles. Only
occasionally since have his roles reached the
level of his talents, but he has worked steadily
in feature films ever since. He appeared on
Broadway in the leading role in Stephen
Sondheim's "Pacific Overtures" and he
co-founded and served as artistic director for
the highly-acclaimed East-West Players theatre
company in Los Angeles.
